Guide
A pack will not make you aim better, but it can make fights clearer and smoother. As long as you stay on the right side of the rules.

What it does not change: reach, damage, knockback. All of that is calculated by the server.
.mcpack file from a trusted source (the Marketplace or the pack creator's official site).Be wary of files that ask you to install anything other than a .mcpack or .zip: a pack never needs a program.
Many servers send their own packs when you join. PaffMC requires its own: server interface, world bosses, pets. You must accept the download to get in. These packs do not change how your swords or combat blocks look.
PaffMC's rules ban cheating, and the list explicitly includes x-ray. A pack that makes blocks transparent to see through them, or shows what is hidden behind a wall, is x-ray, even if it is "just a pack". The penalty for cheating is an immediate ban.
| Allowed | Changing colours, shortening swords on screen, lowering fire, simplifying the sky or particles |
|---|---|
| Banned | Transparent blocks, outlines visible through walls, any pack that reveals what the game hides |
If you are unsure about a pack, ask the staff on Discord before playing with it.
Keep one simple pack for several weeks. Constantly changing textures throws off your habits far more than the pack helps. The settings that really matter are in our settings guide.
| Entry-level phone | 16 × 16 pack, no effects, simple sky: smoothness first |
|---|---|
| Recent phone, tablet | 16 × 16 or 32 × 32 pack, as you prefer |
| Console | Packs go through the Marketplace; keep default video settings if the game runs smoothly |
| PC | Anything runs, but an HD pack will not help you see an opponent better |
On PaffMC the server pack installs itself when you join (menus and interface). X-ray is forbidden by the rules.
